Interesting

This is my first foray into blogging. I have always heard so much about this and have always wanted to share my lifestory with whoever was willing to listen. my major challenge is going to be finding the time to do this.  As opposed to having the facility available at home, blogging will have to happen when at work, when there is time as well as when i find inspiration. So dear friends let me tell you about myself in short.

The name is Andre and   have just been accepted into the land of 47year olds. The bones are starting to creak but the mind still is reliving being a 27 year old. The upkeep is painstaiking as the gap is now huge.

I am married to the same woman and we will be celebrating 20 years of marriage in a few days time, more about that later.  We have 3 kids, daughter Ashleigh 17, son Jason 16 and the baby Jesse (a boy) aged 12.

We reside in Cape Town which is ranked as 'in the top 5 most beautiful places in the world' and have been for over 15 years now.

This is me in a brief nutshell.

This of you who have read my blog would have read about my arrest on a previous trip to the Meditteranean in Johannesburg. Every bone in my body was prepared to take a flight out of Cape Town and NOT Johannesburg. The prospect of not leaving Johannesburg occupied my mind for a long time so when Jesse and I sat down to plan our flights, it was going to be a flight out of Cpt. The best priced flights were on TAAG (Angolan Airlines). So we booked Debbie, Jason and myself on Taag, flying via Angola, Portugal then London.  We worked out layover times and everything panned out really well. Because Jesse and Ashleigh did not have their passports ready as yet, they were going to fly Qatar Airways the next day. A mistake which I made which actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Our arrival in London was fantastic.  The flight from Lisbon to London flying Business Class was beyond my wildest dreams.  Okay, it was just normal seats with a curtain drawn, but itwas still business class. EVERYTHING was free, our hostess even brought me 2 plates of food.  They served a 3 course meal and as many G&T's that I could muster down without falling over.   Heathrow Airport was so big, so VERY big. Once we collected our luggage we must have walked at least for 10 minutes before getting to customs.  The great thing about flying Business Class is that you get ushered to an express line. We felt so important.  Seeing my sister when we arrived was the best ever. Suddenly there was a connection again. Meeting the nieces and my new brother-in-law was so cool. We had last seem Scott in 2005. We laughed and rejoiced for all of 15 minutes when Renata put us to work, cutting the lawn, peeling and cutting things, packing and sweeping things. My kids my adults - Part Ashleigh

I met a guy many years ago in Jhb, named Peter Karadas.  He had a daughter called Ashleigh.  I loved that name so much Itold Debbie that if we ever had a daughter, I would name her Ashleigh.  Any other kids could be named by Debbie, but my daughter would be Ashleigh. I remember watching her being born, when the Dr delivered her, I just burst into tears.  Tears of joy I must add but tears nontheless.  She was the most beautiful baby I had ever seen, even my friend Avril said so.  All babies look like prunes to me but Ash was so beautiful.  Amazingly she had blond hair and amazing blue eyes.  She was such an easy baby, even sleeping through the night at 6 weeks of age. This undoubtedly is and always will be my favourite picture of Ashleigh.  She would often just walk around our garden mumbling away even when she couldn't speak.  She was always a shy child and a real mom and dad's girl.  This pic was taken at our friends Cathy and Warren's home in Jhb.   Throughout P
